My first solo trip was to Telluride, Colorado in August 2021.

What I did: Fly fishing, hiking, climbing, spa.

This was my first solo trip that I took in the midst of my divorce. I had no clue what I was doing, I just knew I needed to get away. In a conversation with my younger brother, he mentioned Telluride. After one Google search, I booked a flight. I relied heavily on the concierge at the hotel to help set everything up and she was awesome!! One perk of staying at a luxury hotel is having access to a concierge. It can make planning a breeze.

I went fly fishing with a private guide set up through the hotel. We spent a half day on the river and it was so much fun. It's extremely peaceful and from this moment on, I'm a huge fan of fly fishing. My guide provided the waders, but here's an overview of everything else I wore.

I love hiking, but I have never been rock climbing. In all of my research, I discovered the Telluride Via Ferrata. I knew this was something I had to do. This trip was meant for healing and for pushing myself. The hotel set me up for a private guide with San Juan Outdoor Adventures. Overall it took about five hours. You hike up, then lock yourself in and climb on iron handlebars for 2+ miles. I was terrified. But, I did it! It was a huge adrenaline rush and I would absolutely recommend it for anyone seeking adventure.

I also spent time hiking by myself. My favorite hike was Bridal Veil Falls. Since I didn't have a car, I walked the Idarado Legacy Trail from town to Bridal Veil Trail. I packed my lunch and it was the perfect day. You can see what I wore hiking here.

Overall, it was the perfect trip for me at that time. My first solo trip ever that started quite the obsession. I can't wait to go back to Telluride one day.
